Now Hiring: Senior IT Specialist

Cochrane Sinclair LLP is hiring a Senior IT Specialist to support daily operations and lead long-term technology improvements. This role is a unique opportunity to shape infrastructure, enhance team efficiency, and contribute to a growing national firm rooted in justice, innovation, and collaboration.

Cochrane Sinclair LLP is proud to be Canada’s largest Indigenous-owned law firm. As we grow our national presence, we are seeking a Senior IT Specialist to play a vital role in shaping and supporting our evolving technology landscape. Based in Winnipeg, this full-time position offers the opportunity to contribute to the foundation of a purpose-driven legal practice that values innovation, accountability, and people-first leadership.

This is not a traditional IT role. You will provide core technical support for our legal and administrative teams, while also contributing to larger initiatives that will future-proof our infrastructure. From vendor management and system oversight to process improvement and workflow efficiency, your efforts will directly support our ability to deliver high-quality legal services across the country.

Our Story and Vision

Cochrane Sinclair was formed through the merger of two well-established legal practices with a shared vision: to create a truly national, Indigenous-owned law firm with the strength and scale to serve clients across Canada. With offices in Winnipeg and Vancouver, we provide legal services in Indigenous law, corporate law, litigation, employment, and more.

Our team is made up of professionals who are deeply committed to justice, reconciliation, and advancing meaningful change. We continue to grow not only because of our legal expertise, but because we lead with purpose, honour community, and invest in building a strong, inclusive internal culture.

This Senior IT Specialist role represents an important next step in our development, ensuring we have the right infrastructure to support a national team and a growing client base.

Your Role as Senior IT Specialist

As our Senior IT Specialist, you will be responsible for managing day-to-day IT operations while contributing to the long-term development of our firm’s infrastructure. This is a hands-on position with a strategic component, allowing you to lead improvements while staying close to the needs of the team.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting and troubleshooting daily IT needs across hardware, software, and connectivity
  • Managing our core business platforms, including iManage, Microsoft 365, and related tools
  • Coordinating hardware procurement, distribution, and inventory for both new hires and existing staff
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for IT vendors and third-party service providers
  • Collaborating with leadership to identify technology gaps, propose improvements, and support change initiatives
  • Maintaining accurate system documentation, user access records, and device management logs
  • Helping design and refine internal processes to improve efficiency, consistency, and scalability

This role will be based on-site in Winnipeg, with opportunities for hybrid work once the initial onboarding period is complete.

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking a reliable, proactive, and detail-oriented IT professional who brings a mix of technical know-how and people-first thinking. You should be comfortable managing both independent tasks and collaborative projects, and enjoy supporting others while finding better ways of doing things.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in IT support or system administration
  • Hands-on experience with Windows environments, Microsoft 365, and endpoint management
  • Familiarity with professional services environments or mid-sized teams
  • Experience with IT vendor relationships, device lifecycle management, and cloud-based platforms
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with a calm, solution-focused approach

Preferred Experience:

  • Familiarity with iManage or similar document management systems
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and privacy compliance
  • Previous experience supporting hybrid or multi-office teams

Compensation and Benefits

We believe in supporting our people with meaningful benefits and compensation that reflects our values and goals. This includes a competitive base salary along with benefits that promote well-being, security, and career development.

Compensation:

  • Annual Salary Range: $72,000 to $89,000 CAD, based on experience and qualifications
  • Opportunity for annual performance reviews and merit-based increases

Benefits and Perks:

  • Extended Health Coverage: Includes dental, vision, and paramedical services
  • RRSP and DPSP Contribution Program: Employer-supported savings plan available after one year
  • Paid Vacation: Generous vacation allowance, plus firm-wide holiday closures
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP): Confidential, 24/7 access to counselling and support services
  • Hybrid Work Option: Flexibility to work from home part-time after onboarding
  • Professional Development: Support for relevant certifications, learning, and growth opportunities
  • Team Engagement: Regular staff events, collaborative culture, and meaningful involvement in firm-wide initiatives

This role provides the foundation for long-term growth. As the firm evolves, so too will the scope and impact of this position.
